Retired fireman Chad Caton blasted Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for their unconstitutional attempts to violate the Second Amendment.
“Nadler is a joke, and now they’re trying to weaponize the ATF,” Caton said during the Aug. 4 episode of his Brighteon.TV program “I’m Fired Up.”
“I’ve never wanted to see any law enforcement ever get thrown into the deal. But when it comes to going against the Second Amendment and the ATF going against its sworn oath, it means they have a boss.”
According to Caton, the New York congressman is pushing for legislation to prevent so-called “gun violence” under HR 1808 – the Assault Weapons Ban of 2021. A statement from Nadler’s office explained that the measure “restores and updates the prior assault weapons ban, which kept weapons of war out of communities for a decade before Republicans opposed its renewal.” (Related: Senate Dems propose blatantly unconstitutional bill that would shatter the Second Amendment.)
Nadler remarked: “Will our Republican colleagues choose to defend the weapons of choice for mass murderers and those who seek to target law enforcement? Or will they choose to defend Americans who simply want to go to school, to go shopping, to march in a parade, or go to a movie theater, without the fear of having a target on their back?”
Caton cited how the ATF has been sending agents to knock on people’s doors to ask about their gun purchases and even touch their weapons – all without any warrant. In particular, he cited a viral video making rounds on social media featuring local police arresting an ATF agent. The said agent showed up in front of a citizen’s house asking to see a firearm the person allegedly procured via straw purchase – which prompted the homeowner to call law enforcement.
“If that’s not infringing on your Second Amendment, I don’t know what more there is,” he said.
The “I’m Fired Up” host put in his two cents on the matter.
“This [agent] went there and said ‘I’m at the ATF. You purchased a weapon and I want to see it. I want to touch it.’ [But] there was no warrant, [so the citizen] said ‘Hang on a second, I’ll be right back’ and he called the cops,” narrated Caton.
Law enforcement who arrived initially asked the ATF agent for identification and ordered him to drop to the ground. However, the uniformed man refused to comply and insisted that “he was a federal agent and he wants someone.”
The agent’s tune eventually changed as the police went closer. He then claimed that the cops were making a big mistake, that he has a medical condition and that his wife was pregnant. While many said it was police brutality, Caton argued otherwise.
The retired fireman said both the police officers and the ATF agent underwent the same training. However, Caton pointed out that the agent’s arrogance pulled him in.
“He was trying anything and everything only to realize that his arrogance got him into the situation. He was lost, he didn’t know what to do, and so he reverted to his ideology that ‘You’re not supposed to be doing this.’ He was begging [and] twisting his hand so as to not be handcuffed,” Caton said.
“The officers did the right thing. They said, ‘We need to secure the scene and you to make sure we can find out who you are.’ [The cops] wanted to make sure that … this man was, in fact, a federal agent.”
Caton ultimately remarked: “This is the very reason that we maintain guns to protect ourselves.”
